The Society holds a large collection of documents, newspapers, books and leaflets which give information relating to Halkirk and Caithness. For those researching their family history there are many collections relating to local families, valuation rolls, census etc.
The above family in photo are James Laird Budge and Annie May Folsetter and who originally came from South Ronaldsay in Orkney. They then farmed Barnyards in Wick and are subject of a few Johnston collection photographs.
James Budge was very well known in the farming circles and was joint secretary of the Caithness Agricultural Society.
